South Downs Way meets the Cantii Way

As a hotel cancellation meant that we have to cycle an extra 9 miles yesterday, it meant we had a shorter journey up to Ashford today. The route today was essentially a section of the Cantii Way which we have done previously.

A very cold start today 🥶 all our layers were on! Down to Winchelsea Beach which is a shingle beach, not your typical sandy beach but beautiful in its own way. The sea was perfectly calm and turquoise. Then down to Rye Harbour & through the Rye Harbour Nature reserve.

After we left Rye we basically headed away from the coastline for the first time in three days, as we headed up through the Kent countryside towards Appledore, Woodchurch and then to Ashford where we were able to get the high-speed train into London.

A great mini break away, our last cycling trip for 2023. But the sun shone, none of the wet stuff ☔️ So happy days!
