Cantii Way - Day 3 - Rye to Ashford

Updated: Aug 9, 2022

The final 33 miles of our Cantii Way journey. We started our day with a loop down to Rye Harbour and through the nature reserve passing by a beautiful shingle beach and the glistening sea. We really have seen some beautiful coastline & seascapes on this trip. 🤩 Back inland to Winchelsea before a return into Rye. What a beautiful mediaeval and historic town Rye is with its many cobbled streets like Mermaid Street, and it’s half timbered houses and a stunning clocktower on St Mary‘s Church on the hill. There was also a 13th century castle overlooking the Rye estuary. We had a lovely cake and coffee in the churchyard which we got from ‘Simon the piemen’, the oldest teashop in Rye. Then onward picking up part of the NCN 18, heading back inland - a great pitstop at the Seven Bells pub in Woodchurch. Then the final 10 miles into Ashford and the train home. What a delightful route the Cantii Way has turned out to be. We cycled a total of 155 miles over the last three days taking in an extraordinary mix of sights, trails, paths and quiet roads & miles & miles of coastline - certainly the very best that Kent has to offer. 😍 Totally and completely recommended!! 👍👍 🚴🚴
