There's a reason I've return to the Yorkshire Wolds again and again.
Routes are here - https://www.komoot.com/tour/2474745461
Golden fields of wheat as far as the eye can see, quiet narrow country roads, haystacks, combine harvesters, wonderful meals, plenty of hills, scenic valleys, exhilarating descents, breathtaking seabird cliffs, hundreds of majestic seabirds, friendly locals, quiet villages & superb cycling sums up my club's C+ weekend away in the Yorkshire wolds. Oh, and did I mention the combine harvesters?
Thank you to all the riders who joined us this weekend - an amazing 130 miles & 7000 feet of cycling over the 3 days following large sections of the Yorkshire Wolds cycle network & taking us out to the coast on the Sunday. Three different routes all equally special.
The weather was very kind to us, although the 35 mph gusts on the Friday and Saturday added an extra challenge.
Two great evening meals and lovely lunch stops on the Saturday and Sunday made for a very social and fun weekend. Happy days.
If you’ve never cycled up there, I would totally recommend it. While the Wolds is still Yorkshire, it’s definitely rolling but the hills are not as severe as the Yorkshire Dales. we followed large sections of the Yorkshire Wolds national cycling route.
It’s just so fantastic cycling up there - really quiet roads apart from the odd combine harvester!!
Very pretty and one of our routes actually took us out to the coast to see the seabird cliffs at RSPB Bempton Cliffs - which I would totally recommend if you’re up that way cycling, or not cycling !
