This ride is a highlight of my year! Last year's was amazing with over 50 women from across Milton Keynes taking part - and this year was even bigger and better.
I organise this every year as it is such a wonderful way to showcase women's cycling in MK, but it is also a social and fun event.
This year more than 70 women took part, choosing from seven different rides ranging from 4 miles to 50 miles, proving there really was something for everyone.
Currently, around three times more men than women cycle, and as part of my work with Cycling Citizen MK - we want to change that!
When more women cycle, more people cycle. Saturday showed just how many women in Milton Keynes love getting out on two wheels.
The event offered various rides, meaning there was something for everyone, whatever their experience or confidence level. What followed was a brilliant day of smiles, laughs, camaraderie and plenty of conversation as riders shared stories, met new people and enjoyed time together on the bike.
The smiles really did say it all.
A huge thank you to Trek Milton Keynes for hosting us and providing the perfect starting venue, along with what seemed like an endless supply of refreshments and snacks before and after the rides.
A massive thanks to all the women ride leaders from the various partner groups who led the rides.
And thanks as well to the fantastic groups who helped make the day happen:
• Ride and Shine MK – Women’s Cycling Network
So many new connections were made during the day.
CCMK put together an fantastic reel - which really summed up the day! Sound on!
